Future of
transportation
I am often recognized as an authority on the future of transport. With more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, I have amassed a considerable amount of knowledge.
My passion lies in moving people and things in ways that are safe, fast, cost-effective, and sustainable.
In my most recent role as Partner at Oliver Wyman, I was deeply involved in driving change and staying ahead of emerging trends within the transport industry. My experience in the sector has made me acutely aware of the services and technologies that will be necessary in the future to accommodate a growing and increasingly global population.
The analysis I led at Oliver Wyman projected a significant growth in the global commercial aviation fleet. By 2033, it’s expected to expand by 33%, reaching over 36,000 aircraft. This anticipated increase in travel demand underscores the importance of enhancing airports and their services to be more efficient.
My focus remains on collaborating with teams to reimagine the future of transportation. At Oliver Wyman, we were particularly interested in the trends that will shape the aviation industry over the next 30 years. Our report pinpoints five key megatrends: achieving net zero emissions, technological innovation, intermodal connectivity, evolving workforce dynamics, and revolutionizing the passenger experience. And our toolkit lays out a framework for financing airports on a path to decarbonisation.
Our goal with our reports was to assist airport leaders, regulators, and other decision-makers. By identifying both trends and challenges, as well as opportunities, the aim is to guide them in prioritizing investments in innovations that will support sustained industry growth in the decades to come.
With my background in engineering and my experience in global logistics, my dedication to improving transport’s future is fueled by a continuous desire to learn and contribute to a better, more sustainable future for the industry.
I had the opportunity to contribute as a lead author to the Oliver Wyman Forum’s report on the future evolution of airports. This report offers a detailed outlook on the advancements expected in the 2030s, 2040s, and 2050s, aimed at enhancing the air travel experience. In November 2023, I also co-authored the ‘Financing the Airports of Tomorrow’ toolkit. This paper, a collaboration between the World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman, explores innovative financing solutions for future airport infrastructure. I’ve also written two Op-Eds for the World Economic Forum, one on the 5 trends shaping the next generation of airports and the other on why tackling scope 3 emissions will help win the climate change war.
The Evolution of Airports
For airports to be more sustainable and accommodate demand, the aviation industry needs concerted investments in everything from green tech to biometrics.
Financing the Airports of Tomorrow
This toolkit is intended to help airports chart a path to net zero through decarbonisation related projects and investments.
